Brain Health & Hormonal Support

The brain does not exist in isolation and relies on a balanced and  healthy body to thrive. This becomes powerfully evident during our hormonal transitions, especially in the lead up to menopause and beyond. Dementia prevention and menopause (+peri) often overlap and may be addressed together.

Brain Health - Cognition & Mood

Multiple studies have demonstrated how nutrition and lifestyle interventions can positively impact brain health, enhancing cognitive function and improving mood. As one of the few UK ReCode practitioners (Neurologist Dr Bredesen’s Programme for Prevention and Early Reversal of Alzheimer), I have seen the both the beneficial and detrimental factors on brain health. Working together may include: baseline lab testing; establishing nutrient deficiencies and risk factors; use of wearable health technologies and addressing genetic predispositions. Protocols may include: dietary interventions, regular exercise, and stress management, along with optimising sleep and oral health. Integrating these elements into daily life can help support the brain to flourish, support mood and minimise the known risk factors associated with cognitive decline.

Perimenopause & Menopause

You may be thinking ‘Oh dear, what is happening to me? This didn’t used to happen’…  Sleep, mood, temperature, cognition and much more may be impacted by the initial fluctuations and then decline of hormones towards menopause and beyond. So what is a girl to do?

Well the 2002 Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) study’s results have now been re-examined and the risks of HRT re-assessed - HRT is having a renaissance currently.  However, it may not be for everyone.

With or without HRT, Nutritional Therapy is well positioned to support women with a holistic and personalised approach. With nutrition and lifestyle interventions, supplements or even lab testing, I work with women to optimise their health during this transition and beyond. This is a collaborative process where we create a plan together, monitor progress and find the right way forward.

Given the known brain, bone, muscle and cardiovascular risks for women, we focus on health management today and a prevention plan for tomorrow -  creating a true longevity plan.

GLP-1 Support

These popular drugs have revolutionised the dieting landscape.  Even though the science and the research on their impact is still evolving, there are side effects to take into consideration.  Established nutrition and lifestyle interventions can play a part in supporting health outcomes for GLP1 users.
